COMPOSITIONS
Night Thoughts (2025) is a short work for solo piano commissioned by the Piano Teacher’s Congress of New York for the 2026 20th/21st Century Festival. Introspective and meditative in nature, the piece explores the piano’s timbre through improvisatory playing and contemporary techniques that create ephemeral, sustained sounds. Inspired by late evenings and musings at the piano, Night Thoughts invites the player to listen deeply to every lingering tone.
Three Petite Paintings were written for NYU’s 2015 Youth Music Festival, a concert featuring works by composition students at NYU and performed by youth musicians from the New York area. Each movement was inspired by and evokes the works of three monumental artists: Sky Above Clouds III by Georgia O’Keefe, The Old Guitarist by Pablo Picasso, and Irises by Vincent van Gogh. Though written with the beginner/intermediate-level player in mind, these pieces can be enjoyed by anyone.
